    1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. 
    2. Add the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, green cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks and cloves.
    3. Toast the spices for 3 to 5 minutes or until fragrant.
    4. Remove the spices from the heat and let it cool completely.
    5. Grind the spices in a spice grinder or mortar and pestle until they are a fine powder.
    6. Store the garam masala in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
